Some scientific inventions made in the 20^th century have greatly improved our life. To begin with, they made it more convenient. Thanks to such devices as the plane, telephone and email long distances have stopped being a problem. Moreover, they have made household chores easier and faster to do. Nowadays practically each family has got a gas or an electric stove, a dishwasher, a fridge, a vacuum cleaner, and a washing machine. Smaller gadgets such as microwave stoves, mixers, toasters, coffee machines, bread makers, pressure cookers, grinders and others are also important as they facilitate the cooking process. In addition, they have made our life more comfortable. Television and computers entertain us and air-conditioners save us from heat in the summer.

The best invention of the 20^th century, however, is the Internet which has become an integral part of our life. It offers you lots of advantages people didn’t have only a short time ago.

Firstly, on the Internet the latest information is available to you at any hour of the day or night. Secondly, on-line shopping can save you a lot of time and money.  Thirdly, you can make friends in chat groups and you can share your hobbies and interests with your new friends. Also, using the Internet you can send mail fast and cheaply. There are many more useful things that can be done with the help of the Internet and if you handle this device correctly, you will definitely benefit from using it.

Ukrainian scientists have also done a lot for the development of science in the 20^th century. They have achieved great success in the fields of mathematics, biology, physics, computing and medicine. The names of B.Paton, V. Glushkov, M. Amosov, V. Vernadsky and other scientists are known all over the world.

I hope that the inventions scientists will make in the 21^st century will be as useful and stunning as the inventions they made in the 20^th century.
