You are asked to prepare a report about your favorite writer. Talk about the following:
his/her name and the country he/she is from:

• some information about his/her life and activity;
• the latest book of this writer you have read.
• My favorite writer is Arthur Conan Doyle.

He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1859. His father was an artist. His mother was an educated person and when Arthur was a child, she encouraged his interest in reading.

When Conan Doyle finished school, he became a doctor and opened his own practice. While he was waiting for the patients to come, he was writing stories. Later, when he saw that readers liked his works, he dedicated all his time to writing.

The book by this author I have read is The Lost World. The Lost World is an adventure novel. It is about Professor James Kearns’ travel back in time and of his stunning adventures there. Travelling with James, you find yourself in a pre-historic world and learn a lot about dinosaurs. Then you get to Ancient Egypt and meet Cleopatra, an Egyptian queen. When James finds himself on a Viking ship, you learn about how the Vikings live and get acquainted with their chief, Eric the Red. Although James’ travel and his adventures are fictional, the historic events and the people he describes in the book are real and it makes the book really informative. 

To sum up, I am fascinated by The Lost World because it is a real page-turner. Once you start reading it you won’t be able to put it down as it makes you always want to know what’s going to happen next.
