You are visiting London now. Your English pen-friend is telling you about the beauty of this great capital city. Include the information about:

London, the capital of Great Britain, is one of the largest cities in the world with a population of more than eleven million people. However, in the 1st century AD it was a tiny settlement. The Romans who invaded Britain in AD43 founded the city and gave it the name of Londinium. In the Middle Ages London was a very dirty city. The houses were built of wood, that’s why the Great Fire of London which was in 1666 destroyed almost all of them. After the Fire new houses were built of stone and brick.

 The most important parts of London are the City, the West End, the East End and Westminster. The City is the oldest part of London, its financial and business center. Westminster is the official part of London. It includes Buckingham Palace, the residence of the British Queen, and the Houses of Parliament. The West End is the most beautiful part of London. The best hotels, restaurants, shops, parks and places of interest are located there. The East End is an industrial part of London.

There are many plants and factories there. The Port of London is also in the East End.

There are many sights in London.  They are Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the British Museum, the Tate Picture Gallery, the London Eye and many others. My favorite places of interest are Westminster Abbey and the London Eye. Westminster Abbey is one of the oldest British Cathedrals and the London Eye is a Ferris wheel which offers a wonderful view of London.

All in all, London is a fascinating city. It’s noisy and crowded but it’s also exciting. I advise everybody to visit it.
