Talk about the popularity of going in for sports. Include the following:

• What kinds of sport activities (winter, summer, indoor) are popular in your country? Which of them are your favorites?
• Do you think sport can unite people? How?
• What kinds of problems can sport fans create?

People all over the world are fond of sports and games. Some people like watching sports events on TV while others prefer to go in for sports. They go in for skiing, skating, swimming, volley-ball, football, basketball and other kinds of sport. I think that so many people go in for sports because they feel that it makes them healthy and disciplined, and keeps them fit. Practically all kinds of sports are popular in Ukraine. However, I believe that football, gymnastics and tennis enjoy the greatest popularity.

Unfortunately, football is associated with fights between football fans. They often act very aggressively and spoil both the image of their favorite team and their country.

Another reason why sport is very important for people is because it can unite them. During such sporting events as the Olympics and the World Cup people get together to compete not in wars but in games. Playing in teams also unites people because they need to cooperate with each other in order to win.

My favorite sport is rhythmic gymnastics. I first went in for gymnastics when I was seven years old. I’ve already taken part in several competitions and I have won several prizes. I like this kind of sport because it is very challenging as it combines the elements of gymnastics, acrobatics, ballet, and modern and classical dance. It also encourages creativity as it allows me to express myself in a unique way. In addition, it keeps me fit and builds my self-confidence.

All in all, sport is essential for me. I don’t think that my life would be complete without it.
